Lariat Cave

We went to Lariat Cave with Cory and Shaely last month. It was awesome. We took the girls all the way around the lariat but we acted like we had never been back that far. I know that Alexis was really into it. She has a very adventurous side! We also drove out to King Bowl, but I do not have any pictures on my camera... I am not sure why, I think my battery must have died or something, but Cory had some on his cellular device

This is the entrance.
Alexis and I dropping down into the cave.
This is right after you get into the cave after coming down the rock fall. There is muddy sand along the bottom of the floor.
This is the same position as the picture above just facing the entrance.
 Cory and Shaely.
This is a pinch point in the cave that you have to crawl through. I tried to get a picture of my wife coming through it but I was a bit early on the pictures.

2012 Garden

This year we have a smaller garden but we thought it would be cool to grow pumpkins to carve during Halloween!

Our raspberries are doing amazing, we should have a lot of them. Last year Vella and I would always go out and pick a bowl full and bring them to mom, and while we were doing that we would get a fair share for ourselves.
This is two of our tomato plants and about 10 red onions
Two more tomatoes and 10 more red onions
This is two pumpkins and two spaghetti squash plants.

I will keep posting pictures of the progress!! I am excited to grow pumpkins and see them go crazy!

How I told Greg the news...

My period has been a little irregular since I am breastfeeding. So when I didn't start I was like oh whatever I will within the next week or two, but I didn't. I had been feeling more tired, but I didn't think anything of it. My kids will usually take their nap at noon and during that time I will clean the house or watch T.V. or just have me time. Lately during their nap I will nap with them and at the time I was like what is wrong with me!? I decided to take a pregnancy test for the heck of it because I had a couple leftover from when I got pregnant with Mattix. I couldn't believe it when the test had a plus sign!! I thought for sure it had to be wrong so I went to the store the next day and bought two more, haha. I came home and they were all positive! How did I get pregnant on the pill? I don't know. I must be the one of the 1% it doesn't work for, because this is the second time this has happened! I was super consistent in taking it. The same time every day. Plus I am nursing, so I am supposed to have extra protection, ha! So much for that! I was pretty shocked when the test was positive. So I found out I was pregnant a couple of days before I told Greg. I wrapped the test up in a box with a newborn diaper. One day after dinner I told him I got a late Mother's day gift and asked if he wanted to see it. He did and he asked who it was from. I told him it was from my friend. He asked who and I didn't know what to say so I just said it was from my friend Donna. He opened it and was like, "She sent you a diaper??!". I told him to keep looking and he say the test. He said, " She sent you a pregnancy test? Huh? WAIT! You're pregnant?". I told him yes and he turned really pale and kept asking why Donna sent me a pregnancy test. I told him that she didn't and it was just a surprise and he was still confused and in shock for a while. Later that night he told me the pregnancy test was probably a false positive and we shouldn't have just had sex because I could've not been pregnant but I am for sure going to get pregnant now LOL. I was like..Greg, I took five tests and they were all positive and not all the same brand. I am definitely pregnant! We are more excited now ;) It is kinda crazy to think we will have three kids in 2.5 years. I love being a mom and I am sure it will be fine haha. My two arms are good for two kids, so it will be interesting with three kids. We will soon see!

Our little family is about to get a little bigger

Once again birth control has failed us. We found out that Alexis is pregnant and that we will have a third kid sometime in January. We had planned on waiting until I was closer to graduating, now that I am in the Doctor of Pharmacy program, but things never seem to go exactly how you plan. We are a little nervous but still excited. I cannot believe we will have 3 kids in 3 year. Maybe we should change the name of our blog to that.

Updates!

I have got to use  different title than "Updates" every once in   while, haha. I guess I am not creative enough to come up with something better! Things have been pretty busy. Greg got a job at the hospital. He works crazy hours, but he seems to like it. the last few days he worked from 5 am to 5 pm. Good thing every day is not like that! I am trying to take advantage of him being home more, because when school starts up I will hardly see him . Only  few more years till pharmacy school is over! Time goes by so quickly. We can survive the hard times! :) Greg is such an amazing husband and father. I am so grateful for all he does. He is so much fun and caring. I am a lucky girl. He is my best friend and I am glad I get to spend forever with him! I am not sure I can say the same for him...I can be a pain in the butt!! ;) One of the coolest things about Greg is once he wants something he sets his mind to it and gets it. Whatever it may be. I really admire that about him. He could do anything he wanted because he is so determined. I love him!
Mattix is doing well. He is so sweet. He has big cheeks and a guy at the store today commented on how fat his cheeks were. It was really funny. He pointed it out to all the people around him haha. He is a big boy! He is wearing some 18 month clothes already. He is doing better with eating solids. I went against the doctors advice and started feeding him rice cereal. I figured out what consistency he does best eating with and he hardly wheezed afterwards. I can't leave him for long though because he still can't drink from a bottle. The swallow study showed that he aspirated the worst with the bottle and I have tried to give it to him ( I know..I am a bad mom) in hopes of him doing well with it. Every time he chokes. One day I will be done with breastfeeding. One day... He is crawling around. He still does this funny army crawl. I love him. He is surprisingly quick! He loves to jump. He loves the bouncer and when I hold him so he is standing he will usually try to jump. He is quite the wiggle worm! He loves his sister. Vella does really well with him. Sometimes Mattix will crawl over her or get to close to her and she will get frustrated and tell him no. He laughs and laughs at her and continues to do whatever he was doing. He is a sweet boy!!
Vella is my sweet girl. She is growing so quickly, I can hardly believe it! Next month she will be 2. WOW! She is growing up so fast. It has been so fun to watch her grow. She is at a fun stage. She is a busy girl . She loves to take things apart and empty the drawers in he bathroom or her dresser drawers. It is sometimes exhausting! She likes to help, which makes things nice. She throws trash in the trash, and helps me make the beds, and stuff like that. She is pretty protective of her food, but lately she has been trying to share with Mattix. One day he will be able to eat the things she gives him. She loves books. She likes them so much she sleeps with them! When I put her to bed she asks for a book and when I get up in the morning there is usually about five on her bed. It is really neat. She is so tall. She is taller than most kids her age. She has her daddy's genes, thank goodness :) She can already reach the door handle and tries to go outside pretty often, so we have to remember to keep it locked. The other day she moved her diaper box in front of the door and unlocked it. She is too smart for her own good. She is so nice to Mattix. When she sees him she will run up to him and say, "Buddy, hi!" and rub his hair. It is cute, but not so much when he is napping haha. Quite a few times Vella will put toys on him when he is sleeping and he will wake up and want to play. I love my kids, but I like when they nap. So that sometimes is a bummer, but she is so sweet it makes it okay. Today at the park Vella saw a baby and was passing by him. She said, "Baby" and rubbed his head. She is so good hearted. I am so glad she is that way. It makes me feel like I am doing something right. We have been having play dates with My friend Ashlie and her daughter Mackenzie. I love those girls! Kenzie is about a year older than Vella. They get along so well! After our play date today Vella cried because she still wanted to play, which isn't like her. It is so fun to watch them play together.
Tomorrow is our family photo shoot so I better get to bed. Good night!

Sunday, April 8, 2012

I remembered a funny story that I want to share. Around the time Mattix was born Greg and I switched rooms with the kids because the crib and toddler bed fit better in the room we were in. We decided to paint it. So we went to Home Depot and picked out a color we liked. The lady who was helping us was new and she kinda struggled with mixing the paint and stuff. So we go to the self checkout to pay for the paint. The barcode was on the lid of the paint, so Greg tilted it downwards so he could scan it, and sha boom!! The lid was not on all the way and over half of the gallon of paint was all over the self checkout! The people who were working were stunned and had no idea what to do. Eventually someone grabbed paper towels in attempt to clean up the paint, but all it did was smear the paint even more. Then someone came around and put of cation tape all around us and the checkout. It was hilarious!!! I used to have a picture of the mess on my phone, but I can't find it.
Good times, good times.
Mattix got a swallow study done last Friday because he wheezes after he eats solids. The study showed that he micro aspirates. Poor kid. He is coordinated when he eats so they can't figure out why he does that. They want to send him to Salt Lake to get more testing done, but I don't think I am going to go. This is the second swallow study they have done with him and they still haven't figured out why he does it. He has to drink barium for the test and I don't think it is worth getting another test done with the likelihood that we won't get anymore answers about what is causing him to do this. The doctor's said to only nurse him and don't feed him anything else for a while. So I guess I will be nursing longer than I originally thought! Fun Fun!
Sometimes I wonder if it is my fault that he has problems health-wise. I think if I would have been healthier when I was pregnant or researched Terbutaline before taking it or maybe even if I would have been more strict with being on bedrest. I just feel so bad for him and I wonder if I could have prevented his health problems by changing something I did. Maybe that is silly, but if I could take them from him for myself I totally would.
For those of you who haven't hear the Terbutaline story here it is. I went into preterm labor so my doctor prescribed me Terbutaline. It was the highest dose and it was every four hours or something like that. I was on that for the last four months of my pregnncy. After I had Mattix I was reading about it online and it has a black label and pregnant women are not supposed to take it for preterm labor anymore because it causes all sorts of health problems and birth defects. I did't question it before because I felt like my OBGYN knew what she was doing. I learned a big lesson there!
I got this from Drugs.com
WARNING: PROLONGED TOCOLYSISTerbutaline sulfate has not been approved and should not be used for prolonged tocolysis (beyond 48 to 72 hours). In particular, Terbutaline sulfate should not be used for maintenance tocolysis in the outpatient or home setting. Serious adverse reactions, including death, have been reported after administration of Terbutaline sulfate to pregnant women. In the mother, these adverse reactions include increased heart rate, transient hyperglycemia, hypokalemia, cardiac arrhythmias, pulmonary edema and myocardial ischemia. Increased fetal heart rate and neonatal hypoglycemia may occur as a result of maternal administration.
Anyways, that is crazy, right?
